All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
There is no commandment greater than these.
Who is my neighbor?
A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him, beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. By chance a priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. In the same way a Levite when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion. He came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own donkey, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, 'Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.' Now which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?
He replied, 'The one who showed mercy on him.'
Go and do likewise.
You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even sinners do the same? If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Do not even unbelievers do the same? Therefore be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Why do you call me good? Only one is good. If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.
Then the King will say to those on his right, 'I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was a stranger and you took me in, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.' Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and took you in or naked and clothed you? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and came to you?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me.'
Then those on his left ... will also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of you?'
Then he will answer them, saying, 'I tell you, whatever you did not do to one of the least of these, you did not do to me.' These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. Whoever desires to be first among you shall be your slave.
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
When you do merciful deeds for the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
Do not judge, so that you will not be judged. For whatever judgment you give, you will receive; and the measure you give, will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye,' while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite! First remove the log out of your eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.
Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? As many as seven times?
I do not tell you seven times, but seventy times seven.
Do to others as you would have them do to you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
